since there were no dogs in the office to play with I went to the local vintage clothing store where two dogs were available for pats. I feel better now. (I also bought a skirt and shirt so that helps to, until I freak about having spent money.)

I am not happy. Just in general.
Blargh.
Want change.
Got a long email back from my GP--my neuro suggested a sports medicine evaluation, and he doesn't see why. Pretty sure he'd recommend me right back to action, but that strikes me as dodgy cheating.
Listening to a podcast a couple weeks ago that explained why the web was where history should be recorded. It's not like before, they said, when writing a history was just for the privileged! Now it's easy! Anyone can publish their stories.
I know I'm listening to tech broadcasts, but crap like that makes me so angry. I found stats that say almost 70% of the US population are "internet users." I bet considerably fewer than 70% are actually internet-savvy, or likely to do any publishing. The internet can only be a great equaliser if you have access to it, and even then, that's no guarantee of shit.
I was going somewhere with that. Forget where.
Oh, sad:
Movie star Shelley Winters realized her dream of marrying boyfriend Gerry DeFord hours before she died this past weekend. The Poseidon Adventure star's partner of 18 years called off the couple's wedding plans after Winters' daughter Vittoria Gassman publicly opposed the marriage. Gassman, who took charge of her mother's estate while she battled drug problems, refused to give up her right to the actress' fortune and Winters eventually decided to give up on her wedding dreams. But she became Mrs. Gerry DeFord on her death bed when actress pal Sally Kirkland, a legally ordained Los Angeles minister, wed the couple on Friday night. It was 85-year-old Winters' fourth marriage and DeFord's first. Winters died of heart failure 10 hours after exchanging vows.
That is sad and also a little lovely.

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me in multiple ways. It really sounds like a smear job-- why would you *publicly* oppose a marriage because it hurts your inheritance? If you publicly opposed it for those reasons how could that convince someone not to marry until their dying day? It doesn't make sense from what I know of trusts & estates, either.

agreed. like I said above there are huge amount of the population at the library that don't know google or search engines. and they don't blog ( but then neither do I ) they don't anything like our boards. and then there are people like my mom, who has had access to the internet for years - and is really just dipping into it.

Spite and one hell of a final flipped bird strike me as possible reasons.
It doesn't say why Gassman opposed the marriage, just that she didn't relinquish the control she had gained. I supposed it's possible that Winters wanted a wedding she could no longer afford. Not that I know anything of the law.

And people who just plain don't care about the sharing aspects of it. The assumption that everyone is facile with the net and exploiting it and giving a damn really makes me itch.
I just got a Salon Personals Cupid Report email. Why is it reminding me I have a profile? Because I just (no, really) became gender-relations bitter, I bet. I was talking with an instructor at krav and he'd heard I have a fan club. Now he knew the other female instructors had fan clubs, but only heard of mine second hand. That's not fair. I want one with better PR.
And, of course, I also don't want one at all. But still.

Well, it one must have a fan club, one would prefer said fan club not to be lame-ass.
