Now hold on, I'm gonna press the right pedal harder. I expect us to accelerate.

Spike's Bitches 28: For the Safety of Puppies...and Christmas!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh. Well then they are evil.

I mean, when they give you shit about taking care of a sick kid....

Don't beat yourself up over it, sj. It's pretty clear from stuff you've said that these people suck royally. That is in no way your fault or responsibility.

Sure, it doesn't change that they've made you feel shitty, or that you might get fired, and getting some other, new job will be a pain in the ass, to say the least. It's still not your fault, and they're the ones that suck, not you.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

A pox on sj's managers!

Thanks to my internet connection being down ALL FRELLING WEEKEND, I completely missed the gender dysphoria discussion. What I would have said, were the conversation still going on, was that the problem with "lesbian in a man's body" isn't anything intrinsic to the phrase itself, but that 9 times out of 10, it's being used as a pickup line, rather than as shorthand during a gender dysphoria discussion. And pickup lines are lame. So there.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Smite the managers! Smite smite smite!!

Jessica, you've hit the nail on the head, there. Yes.

Thanks. So I'm not lazy for not wanting to risk breaking a limb or getting into a car accident? I need to find a way to not make myself sick from now until my next shift on Friday.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Nora, surgery-ma for your dad. I hope he comes through well and can recover quickly.

sj, I'm sorry you have to deal with such asshead management. It's been so long since I've worked retail, I've forgotten just how hellish it really is. I'm afraid that I'm at a point in my life where I'd just tell someone that treated me like that to fuck off. It sucks when you need the job and have to put up with it.

Beverly, good luck with the checkup.

DH had to go back to work today after a LOT of time off during the holidays. He ended up coming home early on the days he had to work between Christmas and New Year and had two four-day weekends so it will take some getting used to for him to be gone from 8-6 every day.

I'm calling a friends' sitter today to see if she'll be interested in taking Owen for one or two days a week. It will give me some physical relief and he'll get to spend the day playing with my friend's son, who's just three months older than he. If it works out well, we'll probably continue it until we get a settled routine with the new baby.

Good.

I have never used a pickup line. But then it's distressing to me to hear about when they work.

What you said, Jess.

So I'm not lazy for not wanting to risk breaking a limb or getting into a car accident?

Not so much, no.

But then it's distressing to me to hear about when they work.

It's always been distressing to me to hear about, or worse yet see first hand, the many, many success stories of picking up women by being a jackass. I've always felt the success of the jackass strategy said really crappy things about us as people.
