Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have no real opinions about who's in love with who (except Sayid patently wasn't in love with Shannon. Puh-leeze), and am more interested in the 48 days is too soon for love prohibition. But, as you say, neverending discussion failing to codify "love" follows right after that.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I'll have to go back and rewatch tonight--someone over at WX posted that they saw elsewhere on the Internets that Sayid was on the TV during Kate's visit to her military recruiting dad.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

The horse caused the car accident where Kate kicked (the) Marshall out and drove off--at least there was a flash of animal-body in the rain before they ran off the road. I assumed it was the same animal, and I think that's the impression the writers wished to give. May not have been, may just have been a random large dog or deer, and the horse is some sort of symbol for Kate.

Do you believe Sawyer's in love with Kate?

Erm. I think they have an attraction for each other that's largely physical, partly one of recognising self-guilt in the other because they each have their own, likewise a certain shiftiness of moral fiber, plus a genuine desire to do/be "good," and doubt whether or not they can be/do good. Plus, the actors are physically very attuned to each other. It reminds me a lot of the body language on BtVS when SMG and DB were mid-affair. Not that acting can't replicate that, but Holloway and Lilly do seem very simpatico on a purely physical level.

Ever fired your gun in the air and yelled, 'Aaaaaaah?'

Found on TWoP: Screencap of Sayid on tv.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

at least there was a flash of animal-body in the rain before they ran off the road.

Later on in that same flashback, Kate gets a good look at the "animal-body", and it's definitely the same horse.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

here's the thing for me: I don't think it is possible that any of the survivors thus far could be in love with anyone else they met on the flight (or during the aftermath) because they don't really know each other. How could Sawyer and Kate really be in love when Kate hasn't told Sawyer what she did? Did Sawyer tell Kate what he's been about the last 30 years? His *whole* con man thing?

Shannon & Sayid? Same thing. Hard for me to believe Shannon told Sayid all about herself.

The married couples? Different situation.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I do think it is possible to fall in love with someone in 48 days. God knows I have.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Ok, my tape cut out right after Sawyer and Kate see the horse and start to move towards it. What happened after that?

Our wings are not tired.

I don't know if Sayid loved Shannon. I don't know if Kate loves Sawyer.

It's possible. Under normal circumstances I think you can fall in love in this period of time. Under emotionally intense circumstances it may take even less time. The survivors falling in love doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me.

Ana/Locke would work for me if they are going to make the show a soap.

Our wings are not tired.

Sheryl, after they see the horse Jack makes nice with Ana Lucia. Eko brings Locke the missing piece of training tape and they watch it together. Great scene with the contrast between these two characters. The tape says that it is a might bad thing if the computer is used for anything other that the numbers. Then Michael notices that the computer has typed "Hello" and responds of course. Computer asks "Who is this?" Michael responds with his name, and the computer asks "Dad?" The end.
