I liked this episode, but I'm an Ana Lucia fangirl.

Ana-Lucia is indeed GrrrlFight Girl if she can kill a large man like that in single combat. She may be even deadlier than Kate.

This episode certainly provided a little insight into why Ana Lucia is so very growly, but I firmly believe some of that was there all along -- digging the hole, knowing the knife was not only military but probably twenty years old, willingness to torture, and of course fighting and killing Goodwin. I'm thinking she's ex-military or something, but I also want to know more about her personal history -- when asked if she had kids, there was along pause before she said "No".
And while most people would be rightly concerned about the fate of two helpless kids in the hands of abductors, the snatched adults didn't seem to ping her at all. So there's that to be found out.

Actually, I thought she was incredibly stupid to go off to the top of a mountain, and then confront him alone. She was pretty lucky that he decided to fall on top of the stake.

For the first 20 minutes, I thought they were playing out the series as it was originally planned. So Ana-Lucia = the character arc as envisioned for Kate, i.e. the flawed leader of the gang, Goodwin = Jack, since he looked like the leader (Big Hero Guy, Peace Corps, etc.) who we know ends up dying early, Mr. Eko = Locke, Nathan = Ethan, etc. Then of course, they did the big reveal about Goodwin so the theory no longer held water.
I found it enjoyable enough, although choppy. But then, I don't really have much expectations about getting answers for big mysteries. At this point, I want to see the big Bernard/Rose reunion more than I want to get answers about OMGWTF POLAR BEAR.

I liked last night's show a little better, but they still have some serious pacing issues in the writing. You'd think wrapping 48 days into 45 minutes wouldn't drag so damn much.
How come it takes 4 days for Ana to ask Goodwin what happened to Nathan? Didn't anyone notice their prisoner was missing? You'd think there'd be a serious trust issue in the entire group that would make it implausible for her to hike with him to the top of the mountain and split them up. And handing him the knife when she knows he's an Other?

I'm curious about when she started to suspect him. I'm not sure if she had him figured out before they started up - she seemed sure, but she could have been putting it together at that moment.
Granted, if that's the case, then it would have been smarter to deal with it later than while she was alone.

I'm looking forward to Ana and Sayid taking turns beating the crap out of each other. She's some kinda badass. Wouldn't it be fun if Kate knew her from prison?
So maybe the Others (the ones stealing people) are some kind of nutty bunch of castaways who are trying to supplement their own community? Kill off the strongest, take the children and adults who might be useful, leave the rest to die? And it didn't work so well with the Frontenders because 1) there were more of them, and 2) they were already forming their own little community, which would be harder to infiltrate.

I also suspect they might have been further away from the Others than the tailies, and there might have been dangers in the jungle between them that even the Others have trouble dealing with.

The names Nathan and Ethan were too similar for me to be convinced that Nathan was an Other.
What I want to know about is the "List" of 9 and how they were obtained, chosen, etc.
It wasn't my favorite episode. Uneven. It just didn't flow right for me.
