I have had a small slice of homemade cow-free cake for breakfast, which was delicious. But I was watching a Scientific American Frontiers show yesterday, which covered dieting and nutrition, and it was suggested that having some protein with breakfast was a good idea. Unfortunately, all dairy is out for me, so no milk with cereal, et cetera. Aside from scrambling eggs or frying bacon, which would take too damn long on most weekday mornings, what are my options? I'm thinking of checking out some power bars....

One thing I've done is fry up a number of sausage patties, then put them in baggies. Some will go in the freezer for longer-term storage, and the rest in the fridge. That way, all I have to do is nuke them for about a minute.

Also the South Beach Diet cereal bars are very high in protein, but aren't as nasty as a Power Bar. They use soy crispies rather than cereal as their base, IIRC.

Also, I wouldn't have to worry about cleaning a frying pan every day. That sounds doable....

Perzactly. You mess up the kitchen once, and then you have sausage patties for a week!

Hard-boil a bunch of eggs on, say, Sunday, and then they're ready to go throughout the week.

Also, you can make bacon in the microwave -- quick, easy, no messy pan, and YUM.

Protein shakes! If you have a stick blender, some frozen fruit, some soy protein powder, you're good. It's quick and tasty.
