Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Thanks for the tip, David!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Phew! With a big assist from AmyLiz I finished my Dan Hicks piece for Oxford American.

Hey! What about all my help. With that one word.

Congrats! I will have to check that out! What issue will it be in?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

In the off chance that David doesn't read the WFMU Blog...

Thank you for the word, lisah. According to the Beatles (and James Joyce) the word is "love."

I kind of love how Os Mutantes are the Monkees.

I kind of doubt anyone here but me would be interested, but there's a new Kanye West & Fall Out Boy mashup/remix album out on the internets.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

shrift, thanks for the heads-up! (Yeah, I'm a new Fall Out Boy convert.)

You're welcome, Kate! I mean, it's no Grey Album, but I'm finding it highly entertaining: [link]

My fear of signing up for that filesharing site prevents me from downloading the West/FB mashup - despite my fervent interest in hearing "Sugar, We're Going Down." Could someone who has downloaded possibly send just that track to buffistarawk?

So. I haven't listened to Breakfast of Champions in forever - though it was my normal Friday routine for a long time. This morning I settled in to listen and pulled up Jon's playlist archive to refer to - as is my custom. DUDE. You can click on the bands name now and see exactly what songs he has played on what shows. It is awesome. I am sure this happened several months ago - and perhaps others have even commented - but it's all new, and did I mention *awesome*, to me.

I love it. And I cannot stop clicking on every.single.band.

Also: I really love the new Okkervil River album.

Finally, Friday treat in video form.
