Don't you just love this party? Everything's so fancy, and there's some kind of hot cheese over there.

Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve. - John Prine

It's working for me, Sue. If you can't get it working tonight & want to send me the necessary info I'd be happy to download whatever you want & stick it on a disc.

Nice piece on Max Roach by Fred Kaplan with lots of good clips. It's no longer there but I'd swear that a couple hours ago there was a subhed that said "More Cowbell" - which struck me as funny because I used "Un Poco Loco" in our "More Cowbell" go round way back when. It's probably still on B'rawk or B'rawk2 if anyone wants to hear it. I also put Sonny Rollins's "St. Thomas" on B'rawk2. Max's intro is one of his career highlights. Check out the Youtube clip Kaplan linked to. I saw Max do a high hat-only solo at the Charlie Parker festival a few years ago & it was killer. R.I.P.

"Either it's murder, or this library has a very strict overdue policy."

I'm with Cor about the new Mekons. Journey To The End of Night but with more input from Lu I think -- more eastern murder ballads and less Caribbean apocalyptic. But yeah, it's really good.

That sounds just about right.

Anyone have an mp3 of the Neville Brothers doing "Way Down In The Hole"?

I do not. Though I did post the gospel version at Bufrawk.

That's the one. Search on Waits Covers.

Sweet! But I have it already. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't another I didn't know about. Like, say, this Tom Waits/Kronos Quartet version I read about earlier tonight.
