Did Veronica *really* help break Josh out of jail?
I doubt it, but presumably Lamb has found an empty hollowed out book in the cell that he knows Veronica brought into his jail, so it's an easy conclusion to jump to.

What is even happening?
I saw a theory on lj that the boy is probably allergic to peanuts and specifically requested peanut butter cookies to prompt a reaction that would require hospitalization - then he escaped from there. That seems most likely.

I'm fully on board with the intentional (on Josh's part) allergy trigger theory. I think that shot of the cell mate was probably to show that someone would notice Josh was going into anaphalactic shock from the peanut butter. Poor V. She got hosed.
