What is even happening?

I don't think Veronica's gotten meaner or bitchier. I do think though, she needs something to make you feel for her. It was easier to feel for her in season one, because she was so wounded. It's been harder last year, and this year.

Is the TWoP interview in an obvious place, or will I have to hunt for it.

Punishingly Intricate

But IMHO, splitting an article into 20 pages is excessive and user-hostile.

I actually like it because then I can read something in several sittings and easily remember where I left off.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

It\'s expected for their user base, though.

Just because some people can deal with it doesn\'t make it less user-hostile.

things have always had insane splits, even dating back to MBTV days.

And that\'s why I never go there.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I think that MBTV used to just split things into three or so pages. The 20-page thing started happening around 2000 or 2001.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Just because some people can deal with it doesn't make it less user-hostile.

It doesn't, but I'm pointing out that it's not a recent development, but rather how it's been done since back when I still read things there.

I'd also like to point out, in argument against "contempt for readers" and "user hostility," TWoP finally introduced page links, despite the fact that they had previously forced you to go page to page to page to maximize pageloads. They gain absolutely nothing from adding page links and, in fact, decrease pageloads.

Thanks, P-C. I went and found it on my own. I'm sorry you went to the trouble.

I think common criticism/Rob is wrong about a couple of things. I don't think Logan's mystery made season 2 too convoluted. I think that, in an effort not to give away the Big Mystery Reveal, they let the mystery lay fallow longer than I would have liked. Some of the clues could have come through Logan's mystery. There was too much shoved into the end. I don't think you should sacrifice the whole season's pacing to having a block buster finale.

I'm pretty much with Rob on season 3, except I don't think he has a great feeling for how emotions play on screen. I think they've turned out some fine episodes, except I think too much was (again) mooooshed into the final story in the arc.

About the emotions -- I don't want Logan and Veronica all sweetiepie happy all the time, either. But I don't feel the roller coaster thrill I think he's trying to pull off. It stopped being a compelling relationship (for me, as a viewer) not because they were either together or apart, but because of how they were together. Now whether that will change in the upcoming chunk of episodes is anyone's game, but they were cold to me, even in what should have been their happy moments. The heat seems to be gone (imo).

They never forced me. I found the page number in the URL and substituted. :)

I don't love the 20 page article, but it's not like it's actual labor to click to the next page. I doubt it's coming from contempt. I think it's just a financial fact that they need to do it, and bully for them. I sure wouldn't want to pay their bills, every month.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Yeah, I never understood what the huge deal about the page links was either for that reason.

On a slower computer it is a pain to load up all those pages, but I don't think TWoP would exist otherwise. The cost of running such a huge site must be enormous. I read their bugs threads for fun & profit and Glark is constantly putting out fires and he seems to be their only in-house tech person. FWIW, from talking to Sars a couple times she's a pretty cool too.
