Hey, I've been in a firefight before! Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity. I can handle myself.

What is even happening?

personally, i'm confident that the numbers will improve. do you know how many markets don't even have UPN affiliates? with this merger the show is going to reach more people.
Yes. This will help.

i'm ecstatic beyond belief and trying to figure out how i can rework my pimping to finally suck in those people that have been resisting.
While restating that I fully agree with you that the show is best experienced in order, from episode 1:01 on, I'm starting my pimping to the less obsessive types today, telling them to jump right in at season 2, and NitW re-runs, tonight.

They might be regretful afterwards, like I was finding Buffy in season 3, but it's not like they won't get it or anything. Maybe you could propose a viewing plan with two options?...like:

Option 1 (for obsessives)

  • Recommend they start taping season 2, tonight, and go rent/buy/borrow S1 DVDs, ASAP.

Option 2 (for normal TV viewers)

  • Recommend they start watching tonight, with 2:01

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Eager (but not as a Beaver) to rewatch VM version 2.0 from the beginning again, and indeed, I very, very much enjoyed "Normal is the Watchword."

Not much in the Evil!Beaver foreshadowing going on, although I notice that while Dick tells people that his dad is springing for a limo, he never says he called or that it was his idea, so wriggle room for Beaver!manipulation. Otherwise, you don't get a lot of him at all.

Also, when the teacher offers to let Dick sit at the front of the bus, he very definitely looks at someone, and declines. That would have been Rhonda, she who was trying to get him to knock her up.

Lastly,no way is Meg three months pregnant in that outfit. But shhhh! It's television!

One Hot Burrito!

For anyone wondering about the return of Dick for the third season, I offer you this tidbit:

The CW press release says that Veronica Mars stars, among others, Ryan Hansen.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Hey, do we know canonically what Mac's doing next year? (I mean, did we find out in S2; no spoilers, please.)

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Didn't Wallace say Mac was going to Hearst in one of the episodes? I mean, if RT could actually sign on Tina Majorino, that would be the natural course of action, so maybe I'm imagining things.

What is even happening?

Yes, right before Lucky pulled the gun on the kids at the NHS luncheon courtyard thingie, Jackie asked Veronica why she didn't just go to Hearst, where she could be closer to her dad, and be with Wallace and Mac.

cereal...

I read the TWoP recap last night. I found it disappointing. I think I mostly felt that way because Couch Baron didn't enjoy the episode. It must be difficult to write a recap that long, when you were disappointed. He didn't like the roof scene, though, and it seemed to me, he didn't mention things I found really enjoyable--like Veronica's, "Ooh! A PONY!"

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

I think i'm one of the only people on the internet who has never read a TWoP recap.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I think i'm one of the only people on the internet who has never read a TWoP recap.

They don't make it easy. I don't like doing that much straight on reading on-line, so I tend to print-off really long text stuff, but there's no way (that I've found) to get the whole recap in one place, and I hate the amount of pagination they use - 2 or 3 screens worth, ok, but not 13.

What is even happening?

If I'm planning on doing my little recappy/review schtick, I won't read them, at least not until after I'm finished with my own stuff. I generally don't read them, because they're so long and detailed, and I've already seen the episode.

I read more of them when TWoP was still MBTV. The first BtVS recap I read was written about The Replacement (two Xanders episode), and I laughed so hard at the description of Buffy's outfit (which was the scariest thing the Hellmouth has ever seen) that I think I busted something.

In general, if the recapper does not love the show (series that is, not episode) and I do, I can't read it. I'm usually fine if the recapper doesn't like a random episode I did, but I'm sorry I read the TWoP VM finale recap, because now I want to write a recappy review in response to it, rather than in response to the episode itself.
