But I have an idea--will look into it.
Yay!
So, I was going to veto Emmy for snubbing VM, but I hear Kristen Bell is going to sing during the ceremony? Frankly I don't know if it'd be worthwhile tuning in, even for that particular prospect. Emmy shows are a snooze, usually.

this is why i'm TiFaux-ing it.
I heard it was like a AI thing with a few celebs singing stuff.
I saw part of the movie Spartan on cable.
It was... weird. The dialog was bizarre, even by Mamet standards. Characterization was non-existent, but Kristen Bell, in the role of the victim gave the most animated performance, and showed a great deal of acting skill.

Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence?
Heh. I assume American Idol. Oh! I remember hearing Shatner was gonna sing, too. Maybe it'd be worthwhile tuning in, if it means we're going to have something similar to his classic performance of "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds".
Tom, I watched Spartan a couple of months ago and thought it very odd (even for a Mamet film) but interesting. It was twisty plot-wise in the way I liked, but also utterly flat in its emotional affect. I thought KB was very good in a small role.
but also utterly flat in its emotional affect.
So... typical Mamet then?
typical Mamet then?
It's Mamet, only more so.
Yeah. It was well past "flat" into "frigid" territory.
The last two Mamet films I watched before this one had some shards of warmth in them (that would be "The Winslow Boy" and "State and Main", although I guess you can't really count the former as a true Mamet), but I wasn't surprised that he was true to form in this flick.
