Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Nah, I share your worries, especially since Rob Thomas and co. appear to be very fandom-aware. They did an excellent job making him sympathetic without white-washing his past wrongdoings in S1, but I'm not sure where they're going to go with the character now, given the state he was in when we last saw him in the finale. Much as I like the character, I don't want him to be more front-and-center at the sufferance of Keith, Wallace or Weevil et. all.

What is even happening?

From the little bit I've seen of VM fandom, a lot of the craxy faction focused on Logan are former Spike craxies, or at least, some of the other fans are spinning it that way.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I was kind of meh on the finale, I thought most of it was gratuitous.

Yeah, me too. Plus my aforementioned issues with VMars and the whole gender thing.

I watched it thoroughly spoiled, knowing all the complaints from the LJ set, and fully expecting to find said complaints a result of overinvestment in their own view of the story being told. (I think I mentioned this to Vonnie when she was up here.)

I was a little surprised to find that I pretty much agreed with the complaints about the finale, and IIRC, had a couple to add of my very own. Mind you, I'm not going to swear off the show or anything. I found the first 21 episodes to be fairly tightly written and plotted, and I like the characters enough to give S2 a shot.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

In some of the other places I lurk I have seen some Logan fans acting in an all too familiar manner.(i.e. in regard to the last couple eps, Veronica-is-a-heartless-bitch-and Logan-is-her-victim.)

I don't really care much either way about Logan, other that some of the Logan(and LoVe-urgh I feel dirty typing that) fans are pushing me towards hate.

I hope there isn't too much emphasis on the Logan-Veronica-Duncan triangle(if there is one) this coming season, 'cuz that's not what interests me about the show.

I want to burn an effigy of J.J. Abrams in Rob Thomas's honor.

I've got a match and some over-priced gasoline.

I will totally get in on this action. JJ could definitely learn a few things from Rob.

really? i'm not really seeing any of that. yes, people are obsessive about Logan/LoVe but i don't see any of them being obnoxious. is this a TWoP thing? because i don't go there and i know that's where most VM fans hang out.

I guess it's part me being contrary, part the fans being over-the-top in my view.(TWoP is the place where I've seen the most annoying behavior) Keep telling me that so-and-so is the best character evah! or that the Logan/Veronica relationship is the most important part of the show, and I'll roll my eyes and decide the opposite.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I think I mentioned this to Vonnie when she was up here.

Heh. Yeah, I remember that conversation. You were half way through the season and already had some gender issues.

I didn't mind the damsel thing in the finale, but I can see how that could push buttons. And the big reveal about Lilly herself felt in-character to me, although I know some people were unhappy about that as well.

really? i'm not really seeing any of that.

I occasionally lurk at TwoP (although not at the episode threads or character threads any more because my GOD they are loooong) and there are several people like that. But it's mostly in certain corners of the LJ. It's possible that I'm not being fair to them because... well, I have residual Spike War traumas, but I've been seeing some LJers whose "Buffy is a cast-iron bitch and Spike is a weedle woobiekin victim" rants used to drive me nuts making the almost exact same arguments against Veronica. It makes me uneasy, because I love Logan and I don't want to not love him any more because of the fans.

Ah, well. Old fandom baggage, yada yada.

Yeah, I didn't have any real problem with the Lilly reveal, though I think it wasn't as smoothly integrated as many of the other reveals.

In some ways, I have the same reaction to S1 VMars as I do to S5 AtS. In both cases, there was a splendidly done B-arc (Veronica's rape and the Connor situation) with a near-perfect and emotionally complex conclusion, and an A-arc (Lilly's murder, Wolfram & Hart) that felt patched together at the end.

Veronica's rape was an arc? It was in the pilot, and not mentioned again until the one or two episodes. I thought the writers had dropped it.
