What were the ratings this week, P-C?

Despite ample lead-in support from America's Next Top Model, UPN's critically acclaimed Veronica Mars did not benefit, with a fifth-place 2.2/ 3 in the overnights, 2.76 million viewers and a 1.2/ 3 among adults 18-49 from 9-10 p.m. Retention for Veronica Mars out of Top Model was just 48 percent in the overnights, 57 percent in total viewers and 50 percent among adults 18-49.

Neptunesite lists the weekly ratings. "Versatile Toppings" got a 2.2/3, better than ANMMHE's 1.7/2, but with ANTM as a lead in, it should have done much better. Maybe there needed to be more promotion that it was a new episode, and next week's ratings will increase.

That's too bad, since Lost was a repeat. I was hoping it would be a great week. I have to say though, I have never seen taking a show off the air during sweeps help the show gain any...

I just watched "Big Love" on HBO and it's a total VM reunion! Mac as a cute, earnest Mormon! Lilly has three mommies! Cassidy shirtless! (ok, his charms aren't actually highlighted by lack of shirt, but still!)

And the funniest thing? I consider myself a fairly involved fan, and I wouldn't have remembered a third of what the previouslies reminded me if left reliant on my own faulty memories.

This one looks like it's going to be juicy. I've been waiting the fall-out from Logan erasing the tapes for a long time.

Yep. Seems like they would have done it last week when they returned from the long hiatus (minus the stuff from last week, of course.) I thought more would happen this week, especially after the heavy duty previouslies. Maybe they figured since all the big developments were taking in the secondary and tertiary storylines -- Logan and Terrence Cook/the bus crash (2nd & 3rd being purely descriptive, w/ no judgment as to which is more important), as well as the Aaron/Kendall/Beav story which I see as 2a to Logan's 2 -- that an understated previouslies would leave a lot of confused watchers. The nominal main storyline was pretty weak, though I do get a huge kick out of Vinnie. That said, I think he made more of an impact in "Donut Run" (the Logan kidnaps his kid ep) with less face time, or what seemed like less face time. Cliff McCormack rarely disappoints, too. Loved his reading of "Nobody likes you." Even after seeing the commercial a dozen times it didn't get old. Now get that man a drink; he isn't picky about what he's drinking.
