Karl Rove being on his back moaning in agony
Karl Rove being nibbled to death by weiner dogs.
I would assume the latter could easily lead to the former. It's a pity that only one may be true.
Yeah, I'm pretty much done being charitable towards anyone in this regime.
Tom was called for jury duty a few months ago. He was all, "haha, not part of your system SUCKAS!!!!!!" which may have been actually what he wrote on the reply card.
I've bitched often enough about my jury duty experience--but that's only because my experience only included WAITING to be seated for an entire week WITHOUT ever being called for voir dire.
And once was when I was pregnant with Owen--and the chairs in the jury waiting lounge were un-fucking-comfortable.
The good news is that this gives me a two year out. Although if I get called again after that time is up, I'm screwed because they don't exempt people without childcare. The $20/day they pay won't cover that cost.
You get a whole $20? We get $11. And you have to pay for parking (though they *may* waive that.) But nearby delis will give you a free drink with purchase!
Um, yeah.
I am lucky in that my employer actually gives me full pay for court related stuff and doesn't take it out of my sick or vacation days. I think they go up to 3 months in case of being on a grand jury. I think. It's been a bit since I researched it.
I LOVE jury duty -- I've had it three times in three different places. Actual quote: "Man, this is better than voting!!" I wish I would get called this year while I'm still in school, and not later when I'm working full-time again, but you know that'll never happen.
Bless you, AmyLiz. Sadly, this is not new-to-you amusement.
Trying again...

I just did jury duty a few weeks ago, and we got $30. they said $10 of that was to pay for parking.
only called once and just as I was moving counties, so I was dismissed.
I did one day of jury duty earlier this year and got bupkus. In SF you don't get any money until you actually get on a jury; the day spent sitting in the jury selection room and wandering from courtroom to courtroom waiting to be chosen or not doesn't count.
