I hated jury duty (deliberations were HELL), but at least Brooklyn treats jurors pretty well -- you can only be called once every 4 years, and they pay $40/day if your employer doesn't cover you.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I haven't been called yet. But I'm in the pool. Or something. They know I live where I live, basically.
The per diem stuff is just so laughable. It's just not enough to be meaningful.
When I was in college, in Hampshire county, they called me despite my not being a citizen of the state. (I legally resided in Connecticut.)
My mother got called a year or so ago. Those of you who've been around here for a while will understand that of the Big Problems with that, the least of them is that she never was a citizen of this country.
(My dad wanted to see if he could go instead - he's retired, he's got nothing better to do - but no dice.)

Poking head (on the last minute f\before shabbat) to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, tomorrow, the 17th, will be a double Buffista event: a birthday for both Perkins and the Phoenix board itself. Early wishes, Perkins! With lots of hope for a great day and a wonderful year! And early wishes for b.org itself, though I'm sure it gets them straight with the electrons when the posting is conducted, anyway.
OK, it's shabbat in a minute. Bye!
