See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I did one day of jury duty earlier this year and got bupkus. In SF you don't get any money until you actually get on a jury; the day spent sitting in the jury selection room and wandering from courtroom to courtroom waiting to be chosen or not doesn't count.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I hated jury duty (deliberations were HELL), but at least Brooklyn treats jurors pretty well -- you can only be called once every 4 years, and they pay $40/day if your employer doesn't cover you.

I haven't been called yet. But I'm in the pool. Or something. They know I live where I live, basically.

The per diem stuff is just so laughable. It's just not enough to be meaningful.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

When I was in college, in Hampshire county, they called me despite my not being a citizen of the state. (I legally resided in Connecticut.)

My mother got called a year or so ago. Those of you who've been around here for a while will understand that of the Big Problems with that, the least of them is that she never was a citizen of this country.

(My dad wanted to see if he could go instead - he's retired, he's got nothing better to do - but no dice.)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

My computer is fixed!

But I work late tonight, and I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow. Crap.
