I like money better than people. People can so rarely be exchanged for goods and/or services!

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

tommy, I just emailed it to your gmail account.

If I only had a brain...

Remember Michael D. Brown of FEMA? The one Bush thinks is doing a great job at FEMA?

Well, he isn't losing his great job. Far from it. He's just getting on a deputy to take over operational control of the search-and-rescue and recovery efforts along the Gulf Coast.

Because firing his ass would be admitting that something is wrong.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

As much as I love The Daily Show, their guests are allowed carte blanche to present the silliest science with a straight face. It's a daily show staffed by comedy writers on a deadline, not reporters and experts, so what can you do. But I don't know if I'm looking forward to the "scientists" they'll dredge up for an evolution "debate."

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

From Betsy's link: "a multi-stakeholder nightmare"

I assume that's bureaucrat for "clusterfuck."

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Thanks. But brenda's link worked for me.

Visilurking

Wolfram, after FEMA has cut telephone lines, I am not giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Oh hell no, don't give them shit. I'm happy to jump on the FEMA fucked up bigtime bandwagon. I just bristle at the (possible) misuse of the C word.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I've been hearing the stories and looking at the pictures. The National Guard was treating the people in New Orleans as the enemy - criminals rather than victims, opponents rather than some of their own.

I'm reminded of the times when dictators have set the army against people opposing them, with orders to shoot, and the soldiers have looked at crowds and seen their own people - their own families. those dictators have fallen. Bush is secure - the NG doesn't seem able to see the people of New Orleans as their own.

ION, I have a new idea for a cop show: Brownie and Turd Blossom.

'''I said because of all that went wrong, of all that didn't go right last week.' And he said 'What didn't go right?'''

Bob Bob was telling me last night how Ari Fleischer (sp?) "pioneered" the use of bald-faced lies as Press Secretary. That shit actually seems to work-- I mean, what's Nancy going to say to him above? It would require an answer way too complicated for the circumstances, and so he pretty much gets away with the "Who me?" routine. I am honestly flabbergasted at the breathtaking audacity of the Rove regime, and how it seems to be consequence-free.
