Do we want to rewrite some of the pages like the FAQ, Board how-to, and Site Etiquette? I could just port the exiting pages over to the new site. For admins, the new site will allow the creation and editing of pages on-line in the Admin section.
I think the top to-do code-wise will be providing some admin links inside the threads, so you don't have to navigate through the admin section to maintain a thread.
I would suggest a link to the FAQ and site etiquette as "historical documents".
That sounds like a good plan. Do we need a kind of stripped-down version of either of them?
Honestly, our new-poster numbers are so low I don't think we need even stripped down versions. People can read the room a lot better than when b.org began, I believe. And if anybody comes in hopped up on current events and behaving badly they can easily be smacked down admonished and be given corrective guideance without pointing to The Rules and such. Yes?
I would agree. I think I try to help rewrite the FAQ's 15 years ago and it made my head explode!
Yes -- act normal, it's fine. We have inside jokes, who doesn't. The end.
The registration hasn't worked for years so we haven't had any new members.
That will be fixed with the move (or whatever you call this), right? So possible influx of new people. But it doesn't seem likely that it would be a whole lot of new people who don't already know anyone.
Do we have our process for handling bad behavior outlined somewhere handy - that in thread call out, etc through to being blocked or whatever (how nice that we haven't needed it for long enough that my memory is this vague!) - not to have new people get pointed to it immediately but just to have available if it is needed
Wow the punctuation of that really got away from me. Sorry
I expect any new people would be friends of ours we invite because they belong. I expect bad behavior, should any occur, would be stomped quickly. The Site etiquette link covers it, but we aren't going to have any hesitation to point out that this is the safe corner of the internet!
