Wonderfalls, Freaks and Geeks, My So-Called Life, Dead Like Me, The Inside, and Gilmore Girls were all first scene loves for me.
Angel, Buffy, Firefly, Joan of Arcadia, Veronica Mars, and Once and Again were all slower builders.
And... that's pretty much the list of my major show loves. Everything else has been a brief, torrid affair. Actually, Dead Like Me was too, but I loved the pilot so much it needed inclusion. And The Inside hasn't really had the opportunity to be anything else. Sigh.
Which was the Wonderfalls episode Tim said should hook us? Was it Muffin Buffalo, perhaps?
It's in the archived first Minearverse thread:

Perfect example of when "nice" is so much better than "funny".
... Some pipe did need to be laid here and that's what the first couple do. If you find that by episode five you haven't settled into it, you might not. If you're patient enough to get to seven, I'd put bets I'll own your ass. And to be totally honest, there's a very good chance your ass will be mine by the end of episode three.
The 3rd episode was "Wound Up Penguin", the 5th was supposed to be "Crime Dog", and the 7th - "Lovesick Ass".
You know, I didn't think much of it at the time, but all the talk about laying pipe and owning people's asses is really disturbing.
the talk about laying pipe
You have a gutter mind. And I don't mean it in a plumbing sense.
There's a
clean
meaning of laying pipe?
I can't work out a dirty meaning that makes any sense in the quoted paragraph, but I suppose I could be overly prudish and literal.
I think it wouldn't have caused an eyebrow raise if the pipe or the asses were separate posts.
Together, they are porn.
Together, they are porn.
Note to File: asspipe = porn.
Note to File: asspipe = porn.
Well it's certainly more likely than "asswipe = porn", which is how I first read that.
Although, I guess, one person's porn...
