Well-travelled neighbors with much experience driving in that part of the country indicate the most likely alternate route is a very pretty drive, but hella longer.

July 15, more or less. That's a very big more or less, depending on everyone's schedules and teh accessibility of tiaras and the vagaries of shipping, etc.
