Glory: Lesson number one, Vampires equal impure! Spike: Damn right I'm impure, I'm as impure as the driven yellow snow!

'Dirty Girls'

Spike's Bitches 24: I'm Very Seldom Naughty.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Hey. New board.

This is kind of stupid, but interesting as an anthropological study: [link]

What is even happening?

Well, the preacher likes the cold
He knows I'm gonna stay

Shouldn't that be: Well the preacher lights the coals?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Man, the Mamas and the Papas are a buncha mumblers!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Shouldn't that be: Well the preacher lights the coals?

No, the Preacher likes the cold because it makes people (like the singer) come into the Church for refuge.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Shouldn't that be: Well the preacher lights the coals?

Not according to the lyrics site that someone (Robin?) linked to earlier. But the line as I quoted it increases the cynicism. As in the preacher knows that this is agood way to get butts in the seats.

ION: on hold with the cable co. listening to their Muzak. On The Street Where You Live should NOT be played all perky-style on a xylophone. It's really wrong.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Wait, so "He knows I'm gonna stay" refers to staying in the church, not staying in Not!California?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I've always assumed so, -t, despite hearing "lights the *****s"

That's what I get for only listening to some of the lyrics, and getting a lot of those wrong. I thought that line was about how, though he might dream of California, he'd stay wherever he was, and everyone knew it.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

You know how I said I wanted some good news?

Well, it turns out my weird facial tingling is completely consistent with the sort of pinched nerves and muscle tension you might expect of a person with a recent severe back spasm who recently resumed normal activities. Especially if that person simultaneously backed way the hell off on her meds because they made her sleepy and she was afraid of getting addicted. So it should resolve itself with physical therapy and time, though I'm supposed to take 600 mg of ibuprofen every six hours too.

And the car? Dead battery. Not merely pining for the fjords or mostly dead, which is why we couldn't jumpstart it. So we pay the nice people at the Mazda dealership $150, and DH gets the car back on the way home from work tonight.

Small blessings, but I'll take 'em.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm happy for you Susan.
