Galoshes are the rubber-sort-of-boots that he's wearing? So that he could jump into puddles without getting his feet wet and his parents worried?
Known as wellie (for wellington) boots where I come from. I agree with y'all that the boots totally make that costume.
I say swan off now, Vortex.
I use the round-to-evens rule in all cases because that way I only have to remember one rule, rather than deciding which one to use in each case. But that's just me.
Galoshes used to also be called "rubbers," but that's gone out of common usage, for obvious reasons.
I was going to swan off now because I forgot the beer at home for the post-work softball game. But I'll just swan off early and hit the store pre-game.
But, you, Vortex, should clearly swan off and have lunch options.
Vortex! Happy belated birthday!
Thanks! Oh, and it occurs to me that someone might have wished me a happy birthday on Tuesday (Nilly, I'm looking at you!), but since I came back to over a thousand posts, I skipped like a skipping thing. so, if you did, thanks!
Cereal, but it doesn't fit the content of the post above:
Jesse? Batya Gur passed away.
Buncha nerds...
Worker absenteeism for last night and today's showings of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is expected to cost NYC millions and U.S. employers $627-million, according to The Globe and Mail.
[oof, bad post timing. Sorry about that.]
Batya Gur passed away.
So sad! I have heard of way too many people I care about dying of cancer this week. I selfishly hope that this means it's moving away from me -- from person I know, to relative of person I know, to author I like.
