I admit I had to take a vacation day to drive to Indy to watch the LotR Extended Marathon. But I never missed work on account of other midnight showings of Star Wars or LotR.

Because, the Chicago one started late Tuesday morning and ending early Wednesday morning. I took Wednesday off too. This allowed me to see a regular showing of RotK Wednesday afternoon.
