4'10"? That's quite surprising. I'm only 5'2", and I tower over some of the immigrant ladies I see at the grocery store. Honestly, it's gotten so that if I see a particuarly wispy creature of any ilk who's at all taller than me, I check her shoes. More often than not, she's wearing some very chunky soles.

Poor GC. How scary it must have been to be unable to move, in the first place, and then to have the sister-teacher mad at you? Ooof.
My cousin had a horrible time in Parochial school. When she was really little--kindergarten or first grade--her teacher made her wear a sign with something along the lines of, "I am a big mouth and a dummy" written on it, and go around to all the other classes, telling why she had to wear the sign (she'd spoken out in class or something similarly mild). She finally reached a classroom with a nun who was an actual human, who told her to take the sign off, go back to her class, and tell her teacher that nun said she was done.
