I would be there right now.

Buffista Movies 4: Straight to Video

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I join you in that wish, considering that their review of that Italian Gor movie was the most hilarious show I've ever seen them do. The song "Tubular Boobular Joy" alone justifies the existence of the entire series.

I am simultaneously horrified that anyone made a movie of Gor, and delighted because "Tubular Boobular Joy" is so perfect for Gor.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

On a related note, ERASERHEAD just got a mass market DVD release (it has been available prior, but only at Lynch's web site).

If I'm not mistaken, it has Jack Palance as the villain, just to add to the horror.

If you've not been exposed to this before, you HAVE to read the lyrics to the song, which is sung to the tune of "Bippity Boppity Boo!" from Cinderella.

Makes note to self to dig out tape with OUTLAW on it

Sadly, it may be one of the ones I sent up to my brother in Maine.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

I've been told that at certain 'cons Mike and the bots would do the song live, with an anatomical chart and pointer. One can only speculate about how that would go, but it makes me smile.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Whoa. We need to hunt own an MP3 of that.

Tom: Why sure! (singing)
It's breastakaboobical, chestakamammical,
pendular globular fun!
Mike: Fleshical orbulal, moundula, scoopula?
Tom: Right-o! That's the one!
Crow: Is it gluteal maximal, tushital crackular, bunular morning 'til night?
Tom: Well you're absotiglandular, fanny-fantastical, mastokafleshular right!

Got one, if anyone's interested.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Paramount has quietly canceled all preview screenings of its upcoming SF movie Aeon Flux, starring Charlize Theron, in an unusual move for a high-profile film; Paramount offered no explanation, though studios often fail to preview films if they fear a negative critical reaction.
