I always liked Fred, and I liked Fred and Wesley together. I didn't care much for Pylea because it seemed so cartoonish after seasons of broody noirness, but I liked getting Fred out of it, so.
Exactly my feeling. With the partial exception of Wesley planning the assault on the castle, and knowingly sending men to die.

I couldn't tell you what the problem with them is, though.
Jesus, I need to rewatch. I forgot all about Fred and Gunn. I liked them, too!
I loved them both individually and together.
I liked everyone, really. Except for Cordelia, after about the third season. After Pylea, I guess, actually.
I didn't like some of what they did with Fred (see how I make it not actually Fred? Coping technique ahoy), but her introduction was fucking awesome. And I have to remind myself she only said the "Handsome man!" thing once. We just had the pleasure of reliving it weekly.
I couldn't tell you what the problem with them is, though.
They induced nausea in sensitive individuals. Fred and Gunn was my favorite pair, though.
I have to say that I had a higher tolerance for Fred and the romantic triangle after the bullshit Angel/Cordelia stuff.
That was so awful that I had to look upon previous awfulness with appropriate context.
And even Angel/Cordelia was out-awfulled by Cordelia/Connor
