I think I'm in agreement with Jessica's assessment back when that the glowy-eyed demon in Africa gave Spike his soul just to mess with him.

Is it better the second time around? Or the third? Or tenth? This is the place to come when you have a burning desire to talk about an old episode that was just re-run.

I would think that too, but I don't recall him acting like it wasn't what he wanted.
I think that they didn't tell him (JM) and then it (the soul) drove him (Spike) mad.
Oh, God. I never thought I'd see the did/didn't Spike wish for his soul back debate, again.
I'm now having bad, bad flashbacks.
Jessica's assessment back when
Was it? I don't remember having that theory. (I mean, it sounds like something I might say, I just have no memory of actually doing it.)

heh. poor Denise. i never felt like those were as bad as the "dead lesbian cliche" fights were though. they just lasted...longer. at least white wings and Ojagwers have shortened the debate these days to "is not/is so".

True, but we were united against the crazies for those. With Spike, the crazy came from within.
Or, you know, I could just say that I have Spike issues and leave it at that.

Yep. I'm not sure exactly how you worded it, but I distinctly remember you following up by saying it was something you'd do in that situation if you had that kind of power to play around with.
I'm now having bad, bad flashbacks.
I don't really want to revisit the fight, but I think enough people thought different and opposite things that we can say that that particular bit wasn't particularly clear or well written, at least in my opinion.
In all fairness, my bad, bad flashbacks don't involve discussion that took place here.
