I want a buzzcut at some point.
I know a cool dyke barber out here in SF the next time you come out. She's #1 with the leathermen in the city, so you know she's good.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

You guys are all being sweet to me, and I appreciate it. I'll see how I feel about my hair once I've had a chance to play with it more.
Ohhh, Deena, yay! I meant to say, Cass, that The Counterpane Fairy has been out of print for some 60+ years -- my copy was one that my mother found at a rummage sale many years ago, and I have no idea how many (or, more likely, how few) other copies even exist any more.
Now I'm feeling the urge to bring my copy in to work and scan in the illustrations. In almost any children's story the illustrations are as much a part of the tale being told as the words, and especially so with this story because the author herself did them all.
Cindy pictures are always welcome.
Also, Tep, Hec speaks wisdom about not really judging a new haircut until a couple of days later, when you've had a proper chance to sleep on it and wash it and play with product and makeup.
And lastly and much more seriously, Cashmere, I'm so very sorry about Christopher's friend. All sorts of hugs and vibes to both of you.
I just put the counterpane fairy on request. It isn't at my library, but I can get it thru our quick interlibrary loan system
There are several copies of The Counterpane Fairy on half.com, and I'm seriously considering hitting that buy button.
According to Amazon, the second printing (that is now out of print) didn't have the lovely illustrations. You can also buy it at a print-on-demand publisher from the UK, or, I guess, half.com.
I'm seriously tempted too. I love stories like that.
If you scan the pictures, JZ, I'll put them up on the web, if you'd like. I'd love a copy of them.
I think that the second printing is what's available on half.com, so maybe I'll wait.

That sounds awesome. Now I have to a) lose some weight and b) get myself back to SF.
I'll try to get my sieve of a brain to remember tomorrow. If anyone sees either Hec or me on AIM tomorrow morning, it's probably actually me; just give me a remindy nudge.
