Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I got the book, omnis, but I don't have RPG experience and it's taking me a while to get together folks who do and are interested and have time. A friend looked it over, and thought that the character info was good but it lacked something or other that I don't remember. I can ask for his comments again if you're interested, but I imagine you'll get better answers from others here.

What is even happening?

Adam Baldwin just showed up in Burbank, anyhow. I kind of love him all over again.

Allyson, if you need an afterword for your book, this sucker is it.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

What happened in a shorter version: a week or two ago they claimed they had no cash to run the event. Then they decided they had secured funding and put the event back on. Of course, the event was sold out in advance, so how did they not have the cash?

Their previous con had been cancelled. The con before that had 35 vistors. Paying customers. The one before that had 75 customers. And something like 20 guests. Spot the problem. Some of them were heavy hitters who everybody knows demand a lot to appear. In other words, they were very expensive conventions with very limited selling of tickets.

Anyway, yesterday they posted saying it was cancelled. I checked with Nathan's manager and Booster called them at this point and cancelled. Then they deleted the topic and advised it was back on. Two of the organisers (And business owners) then resigned. (Sinking! Ship! Help!). "Dave" (a paper hanger by trade - no really) then took over, and started driving from Oregon to the venue, and reassured everybody who was already at the hotel the event was still on and all the guests still booked. They even got a post on Whedonesque saying this. Simon from Whedonesque removed the item (thank you, Simon!). It was bullshit - I know for a fact the guests were still cancelled. I do not understand why they kept saying the event was still on.

Then they deleted their website and put up that message up.

They are not discussing refunds. I doubt they can afford to do them.

Also, Adam Baldwin showed up at the hotel anyway. He's in the lobby now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Adam Baldwin just showed up in Burbank, anyhow. I kind of love him all over again.

Yeah, me too. Somebody buy him a thing.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

The last thing Adam went to which was cocked up (organised by Universal - humour pause here), he ended up going to the bar with fans. He's a properly nice guy.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Man, that's all completely nuts. I can't imagine how much that would suck. Yay for AB. Whadda guy.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

What a sweetie!

Those poor people. I am in awe of Allyson, Kristin, ND, deb g., everyone who manages to pull off any event. Allyson shall henceforth be The Angel of Fannish Vengance.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

The thing that REALLY pisses me off is that two weeks ago, it was clear there were massive problems. Yet they promised the event was back on. Two weeks ago there were backup plans being put in place. Right now, the hotel won't even give James etc the space (they're waiting on legal clearance).

Basically, BE gave people about a few hours notice of the cancellation in the end. I'm sure other things will happen, but not as planned as before.

They basically really fucked about with people. I'm slightly worried about the amount of money we're talking about here, also - it's well into 6 figures worth of ticket sales for the event, and there's things like creditors (they openly said they got loans for the event), lifetime ticket holders ($5000 each!) etc.

I'm not even going to Flan. But I'm still with Allyson on this one. If I'd been going, seriously, I'd be going nuts I think.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Who the fuck are these BE people?

I have massive issues with Creation Entertainment, but they've never pulled this kind of crap.

This is appalling, and like Allyson, I'd love to punch someone. And hug Adam Baldwin.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I really would like to rant about just who I think these BE people are.

Like, a solid old school takedown.

But I really need to eat supper.
