The last thing Adam went to which was cocked up (organised by Universal - humour pause here), he ended up going to the bar with fans. He's a properly nice guy.

Man, that's all completely nuts. I can't imagine how much that would suck. Yay for AB. Whadda guy.

Those poor people. I am in awe of Allyson, Kristin, ND, deb g., everyone who manages to pull off any event. Allyson shall henceforth be The Angel of Fannish Vengance.

The thing that REALLY pisses me off is that two weeks ago, it was clear there were massive problems. Yet they promised the event was back on. Two weeks ago there were backup plans being put in place. Right now, the hotel won't even give James etc the space (they're waiting on legal clearance).

Basically, BE gave people about a few hours notice of the cancellation in the end. I'm sure other things will happen, but not as planned as before.

They basically really fucked about with people. I'm slightly worried about the amount of money we're talking about here, also - it's well into 6 figures worth of ticket sales for the event, and there's things like creditors (they openly said they got loans for the event), lifetime ticket holders ($5000 each!) etc.

I'm not even going to Flan. But I'm still with Allyson on this one. If I'd been going, seriously, I'd be going nuts I think.

I have massive issues with Creation Entertainment, but they've never pulled this kind of crap.

This is appalling, and like Allyson, I'd love to punch someone. And hug Adam Baldwin.

Seriously, that's (not supper) all kinds of fucked up. Kudos to Baldwin for being a good guy and showing up anyway. It's this ginormous example of good human behavior versus crapass.

Supper then shakedown? I'm not schooled enough in these matters to really understand how all this happens, but my fairness meter is twigging. It seems like someone had an idea for an event, talked it up, took money for it, then didn't do the work required to make the thing come off and rather than cop to it, let everyone think it would still happen and then pulled the rug out from under them.

Like someone went and cancelled Firefly Christmas.
