Spike's Bitches 21 Gunn Salute

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Hitting guys. Boring. Hitting guys while skating. Speed and grace punctuated by violence.

Also, why roller derby is so much fun. I just came back from my daughter's first bout. It was a hoot and holler! They had a "spanking alley" for the girls who had to go to the penaly box. And the fights! Wheee! I had fun.

Thanks for all the ~ma. I haven't had an update, yet, but I'm sure it's doing much good for Kathy and Jerry. I appreciate all your wishes for the family.

Heh. The very first professional sport Emmett ever saw was roller derby at the nearby Kezar Pavilion. He still asks me when it will come back. (He saw it at ages 2 and 3.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

have you seen ads for "The Contender"? Some sort of new reality show where people are training to be boxers or something like that

I did -- a couple instructors tried out for the other one, the one on Fox that stunk.

Funny thing is -- I hate boxing. It's kinda like hockey fights. Too many weapons unused.

Yeah, speaking of which, have you seen Beautiful Boxer yet? C'mon boxing and pretty men in eye makeup. It's like they made it for you.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My tv just said, in all fucking seriousness, "Earthquakes don't kill people, buildings do."

Disclaimer: I get that this is technically true, but I don't think the buildings are really making a choice to kill.

Friends don't let friends snark alone. I think a passel of Buffista should come watch tv with me right now.

A friend of mine in college once did a whole lot of drugs and thought a building (erika, the blue-neon outlined BofA building in Mesa) was chasing her.

I'm not doing any drugs (okay, some Advil and a couple of Benedryl but nothing that should be making the tv so funny) even.

I am imagining gangs of murderous buildings roaming the streets.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I am imagining gangs of murderous buildings roaming the streets.

That was a Monty Python animation, wasn't it?

No, I think that was a video for They Might Be Giants.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

The MP sketch started with roving bands of old ladies, then trash bins, then buildings.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I took a nap and woke up wrong. I hate that.

And now Spike can smack you around but that's ok 'cause you sorta like it?

"MP" evokes Military Police, which makes this a very different skit than the one you are alluding to.
