Spike's Bitches 21 Gunn Salute

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

I'm watching this old melodrama with Cary Grant, Penny Serenade. I know how it ends, I don't care, I'm still watching intently.
Oh, Penny Serenade kills me, each time, even though I totally know what's coming, and how very manipulative it is. It is evil.

This should be okay, right? I mean, I know it should be fine, but I still feel wrong for not going. I think I feel bad because I really didn't want to go in the first place.
It is all kinds of right to stay home and talk to your husband who is so far away. You need each other, and God knows that, Nonian. Pretend you live in Boston, and that church was actually closed on account of weather, okay?

SA, does your mom know all these things about J?

vw, you don't want to be home right now, anyhow. It's gorgeous, but they're saying the official totals of snow in Boston will probably surpass the totals of the Blizzard of '78. Now, official totals are sometimes just plain wrong. Or they only measure Boston, and miss the extra foot of snow the rest of us 10 miles north or south actually end up with. But they're expecting ~30 inches in Boston. I think we might have close to that, now.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

The snow here was not as bad as they were calling for, I think, unless we're supposed to get more tonight.

Painting will re-commence in ten minutes.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I'm on with American, finally. Not looking good for getting out tomorrow. Flights are already booked. Damn.

Ack! I'm sorry. I boycott American anyway, ever since a particularly ridiculous adventure several years ago.

But they're expecting ~30 inches in Boston. I think we might have close to that, now.

Wow. That's...a lot. Where did it all come from? The Himalayas must be totally dry now.

What is even happening?

Now the National Weather Service is saying between 28 and 38", for our area. Holy canolli.

Good crap. We look to have only 10 to 12.5 here.

This Texan isn't used to prefacing the number 10, as used to describe inches of snow, with the word "only."

Mostly lurking...

Well, we're not coming home till Tuesday. Flights to Boston for tomorrow are already booked. And I can't get through to Delta. That will have to wait. I'm going back to bed.

Smart choice, vw.

P-C, does your family still live in Texas? Are your folks originally from India? If so, how did they end up in Texas?

So my parents were both originally in India. Soon after they got married, my mom came to America (San Francisco) while my dad finished medical school. This was in the late seventies. Yet, I'm thinking my mom may have already been in SF before then because I'm pretty sure she and her siblings went to Galileo High School. But anyway. That still would have been early seventies when her family came over.

After my dad came over (fairly certain that was his first time, as most of his family stayed in India for quite a while), they lived with my mom's parents for a bit. I was born in San Francisco, and there's a funny story about being out social visiting and having to tear down the bloody highway to get to the hospital.

My dad's a psychiatrist, and so now he was in the market for residencies. The first one was in Northampton, which is the farthest back I can remember. The second one was in Pittsburgh, where I schooled up to second grade. Then, finally, he got a job in Arlington, Texas. Where we remain. (My grandparents, who live with my mom's oldest brother, are in Belmont, about twenty minutes south of SF.)

So I didn't officially "grow up" in Texas, but I was there since I was seven, so I figure I'm Texan enough.

Trust my rage

Pretend you live in Boston, and that church was actually closed on account of weather, okay?

Thanks, Cindy, and when I read your earlier post about your church being cancelled, I was thinking to myself that I wished I lived in Boston.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

glad vw has gone back to sleep, Logan airport is closed like a closed thing anyway. Worried about Jen. State of Emergency doesn't apply to hospital workers who have to drive to the hospital in order to get there? Gah. It's evil looking outside. Happily I am inside, watching local news (the news is the weather) as is my fave thing to do during storms when I'm safe at home.

I made a spinach, mushroom and bacon frittata and it was FG!

Jen, if you read this today, drop a post to let us know that you're in one piece?
