juliana, 2 questions: (1) Have you been gastrointestinally sick just today, or longer? (2) Did you eat normally yesterday?
Spike's Bitches 21 Gunn Salute
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
TRUDY IS BACK! Hurray!
And he wondered if this was something he could do.
It doesn't work well enough. The Joss one was simple and elegant, but trying to make the metaphor work for vampires (and specifically Buffy vampires) makes it lose clarity. Alas. There was going to be a vampire with a soul and everything.
It's nice to be missed. ::kissieskissieskissies::
P-C, where is this going to be published?
Just the school newspaper. Tomorrow.
I changed the metaphor to relate to students. Bye bye, vampires. I'll miss you. Maybe another story, where you work better.
Steph, just today, and I ate - well, not normally, but nothing out of the ordinary for me. Perkins (hi Lee!) for breakfast and pizza for dinner, with bar food around 10. Typical fare for travelling weekends.
Trudy! So nice to see you.
juliana, if you did eat and drink normally yesterday, I wouldn't worry so much about not keeping things down for the first 24 hours. If you're still not able to at least drink water and some broth tomorrow, I wouldn't hop back on the Reglan; I'd see a doctor. Go to the ER if you show signs of dehydration (if you pinch the skin on the back of your hand and it doesn't immediately return to its original position, you're dehydrated).
My guess is that your Reglan prescription was to counteract the nausea that can come with the opiod painkillers you took after your accident; if you've got a bateria making your stomach unhappy, it might not be a good idea to stop your vomiting, as awful as that sounds, because it's the best way your body has to get rid of whatever's making you sick.
I might try some ginger tea today (sip it over the course of a half-hour or so) and see if it helps at all; it's good for GI sadness. Mint and/or chamomile will also be good for the tummy if you don't have any ginger.
Edit: You ate Lee for breakfast? Damn. Suddenly my bowl of Grape-Nuts seems so boring.
Hmmm. Can you keep down liquids? If you can, I'd say stick to Gatorade and chicken broth (or other broth) for the rest of the day, maybe tomorrow, and you probably won't need the drug.
That said, if you keep throwing up repeatedly, take the drug.
Bottom line: it won't hurt you to take it, but you may not actually need it. If you're just *worried* that you'll keep puking (which sucks), try the clear liquids route and see how you do. If you *are* still puking and just really want to not be, and want to get some sleep, take it.
t edit Partial x-post with the actual medical lady! I'd stick with Jen's advice.
Okay. Thank you, both. I'ma go make some hot water and add a tiny bit of ginger root. The advice is most appreciated.
