Trudy, it's nice to see you back here.
juliana, I'm not medically inclined, but I was hospitalized for dehydration twice when I was a kid, and I've taken care of a lot of stomach ailments over the past 9 years. I wouldn't take the medication, at least not without a doctor's okay for this particular situation.
It was one thing after your accident, but this time, the nausea is likely to stem from either bad food, or a stomach virus. You don't want to keep either of them in. You want them to run their course.
Take nothing by mouth for a few hours after vomiting. Then go to crushed ice (if you have a blender). Just a few of spoonfuls at a time--maybe every half hour. Assuming you hold down the crushed ice, you can move to ginger ale, late tonight, or tomorrow. Try to make it a little flat, and only take sips. If the ginger ale takes, other clear fluids, etc. TMI (well not, but frank discussion) If you're throwing and going, you're at the most danger of dehydrating. If you're (just) throwing, it's more probable than if you're just running to the bathroom.
Overall, the secret is to lose less than you take in. You don't want to take a lot of either ice or ginger ale, just enough to keep you from dehydrating. If you take too much, and vomit, you'll lose more than you gained.
Also? You can have Z pick you up some Pedialyte. It's for kids, but who cares. There are flavors. It has electrolytes, but not all the stuff in Gatorade, that might be too harsh for your tum.
