On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Shit. Betsy, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Keeping a good thought for your friend.

Now tagless for your comfort.

heh. I'm very pleased we beat you guys to Skyline, then!

Heh. I told him you guys were from out of town, so we shouldn't get there too early. You should here him complain about BANDS! It's so hilarious. When the bar advertises the band starts playing at 10:00 p.m., the band is usually still at the bar doing shots before their warm up. And Christopher sits there saying, "if I had a band, we'd start RIGHT at 10:00." I had to remind him it was "sex, drugs and rock & roll." NOT "punctuality, drugs and rock & roll."

Aimee, good luck with the search. Day care is part of the reason I decided to stay home. We have a friend who's son is in a Montessori school and he LOVES it. If I had to go back to work, that is where we'd take O. The other licensed day care centers (not private homes) I checked at had a six month waiting period! And would have cost over $9K a year (the government only allows you to take out $5K pre-tax for child care expenses. Feh.)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Job hunting is going to be a serious pain in the ass for us.

We cannot afford to have me NOT work, but we can't afford daycare until I'm working, and with waitlists and the fact that I almost always wind up in contract positions because there aren't enough "real" jobs out there? OY!

Betsy, I'm sorry. I hope they find your friend safe and sound.

I am, unfortunately, catless due to the extreme fees my apartment complex puts on owning pets ($250 non-refundable deposit + $20/month). Stupid apartment rules.

Our old apartment had a $300 pet FEE (non refundable) a $300 pet DEPOSIT (refundable if no major damage to the carpet) and $15 a month additional rent PER PET. Our only official pet at that point was Mac the dog.

information libertarian

I strongly encourage anyone who is pregnant or even TRYING to become so to check out day care centers ASAP. In some areas (i.e. mine), you have to get on waiting lists for the best centers BEFORE the child is CONCEIVED to get a spot. Eve is on the wait list for the on-campus facility, and is about 25th down right now, after having been on the wait list for 14 months.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Betsy, good thoughts for your friend. I hope they find him soon, safe and sound.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

And I thought my apartment rules were bad.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Skipping over a bunch of posts to be a little annoying. Please indulge me. The guy I am seeing is so very sweet. He brought me a teacup last night for a second date because he noticed that I collected them when he was in my apartment for our first date. It is a gorgeous teacup and such a super sweet gesture.

Mostly lurking...

The member services person I'm talking to right now at BCBS has decided that it's appropriate to call me "Val." It's making me more and more annoyed each time he does it.

Sadly, that really only works if you have a steady job. I mean, I guess we could wait list and then pass it up if I haven't found anything, but...
