I know the feeling. Whenever I introduce myself to someone I always use my full name becuase that's what I like to be called. Shortening it without asking is a definate faux pas. I correct them immediately. If, after they say my name wrong multiple times, I ignore them until they get it right.

It's one of my pet peeves. Friends and family can call me Val, but if you've just met me, don't you dare cut it down without asking!

I can't be too mad at the guy, though. He just got authorization for 8 transitional appointments with my therapist. So, I don't have to stop seeing her immediately. Although, I do have to start looking for a new therapist right away. Grrrrrr...

I did not have my keys. They were still in the car. And the car was still running.

I did this once after parking on the street in preparation for going to a concert at Shoreline. my car at the time was a convertible, and while teh top was up, I was able to unzip teh back window and crawl through anmd retrieve the keys. I was terrified that someone who lived on teh street I was parking on would see me and call the cops on me for breaking into a parked car, though. Didn't happen, and I was just embarassed as all get out. Funny how embarassed you can be over something that no one saw you do.

You know what's terrifying? Feeling your bus slide on the ice on its way to a packed intersection, that's what's terrifying.

There seem to be a number of Bitches not feeling in th epink of good health. Helathful vibes to you all. I'm not sure that vibes from me will be that helpful, as I am now entering week 4 of the cough that decided to hibernate in my chest for the Winter, but maybe I send them out nonetheless.

People have wanted to feel bad for me because my name has no nick...now I have two. Friends only. My dad's mom was like" you could call her "Ricki", so glad they didn't." Feeling good today, but have a bit of ground to make up novel-wise due to all the fic and "Save The Wire" See y'all in a few hours, k? Sj, jealous.

Me too, and it seems like half the people who call in to our office immediately shorten it. Grrr.

Something that both sets of our recently-sprogged friends did to cover the daycare gap was hire actor-type friends who didn't have day gigs at the time to be nannies. From all accounts, it worked fantastically. Z was most envious of the nannies.
