I don't necessarily want it to be 10 degrees for any lenght of time; it just feels like that's the way winter should be.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

For me snow is what makes it winter. The bitter cold between snowfalls is just an unfortunate side effect.
See, Chicago is weird to me, as most of the time when it snows the snow melts in a week.

I'd thought it was more like Metro Detroit, which does hang onto its once-white stuff for quite the while.
Don't wanna be here.
I made up my bed for my parents, which meant I had to go out and buy a sheet set, since I didn't have any queen-sized flat sheets. And now I know why -- they get so crinkly! I'm not ironing that thing.
I understand now I will never be the homemaker that my mother is. Which is fair, since she can't kick people in the head.

Sometimes that happens too. But I'd say more often than not we get several big snowfalls that melt in between.
25 frikken degrees in Austin. Brrrrrrrrr. At least the wind has quieted down.
Not looking forward to going out later, which I must.
It's wierd to not turn off my dripping faucets from overnight. I no like below freezing days. That's why I live in the sunbelt.

Complete melts, or the sort where the piles from clearing parking lots live forever?

homemaker or head kicker. Are those the only options? Cause if so, I'm screwed as I am neither.

Head kicking is what I do better than my mother. I suspect you teach kids better than she does. There's usually something.
AND, FTR, it's too damn cold this morning. 48F is just wrong.
It's like 10 here. I was all excited, thinking, "Finally, it feels like winter for once." Winters in Chicago usually feel too mild to me.
It was around 44F here in MA this morning which just felt so un-winter-like that it was wrong like a wrong thing. It's now up towards the 50s.
Oh well, give it a day (hour?) or two and it will be sub-zero again I'm sure.
