Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'd thought it was more like Metro Detroit, which does hang onto its once-white stuff for quite the while.

Sometimes that happens too. But I'd say more often than not we get several big snowfalls that melt in between.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

25 frikken degrees in Austin. Brrrrrrrrr. At least the wind has quieted down.

Not looking forward to going out later, which I must.

It's wierd to not turn off my dripping faucets from overnight. I no like below freezing days. That's why I live in the sunbelt.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Complete melts, or the sort where the piles from clearing parking lots live forever?

I understand now I will never be the homemaker that my mother is. Which is fair, since she can't kick people in the head.

homemaker or head kicker. Are those the only options? Cause if so, I'm screwed as I am neither.

Head kicking is what I do better than my mother. I suspect you teach kids better than she does. There's usually something.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

AND, FTR, it's too damn cold this morning. 48F is just wrong.

It's like 10 here. I was all excited, thinking, "Finally, it feels like winter for once." Winters in Chicago usually feel too mild to me.

It was around 44F here in MA this morning which just felt so un-winter-like that it was wrong like a wrong thing. It's now up towards the 50s.

Oh well, give it a day (hour?) or two and it will be sub-zero again I'm sure.

Hey, at least you're gonna get The Real World.

Complete melts, or the sort where the piles from clearing parking lots live forever?

Sometimes one, sometimes the other. I know that's terribly vague, but there really is a lot of variance from year to year.

I can't even.

Ironing flat sheets? Oh yeah, some people do that. I am disincluded from that subset of folks by my predisposition to fold and forget.

Head kicking requires a flexibility I no longer have, I fear. But I do regularly step on heads (inside helmets) that have been conveniently placed in the proximity. Takes some getting used to, then you're fine with it.

Yeah, but your mom is also smarter (than I) and better at rat-killing.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Actually, even better, my Christmas Eve dinner has expanded to two more guests.

It was looking uncomfortably spare, with an embarassment of food.
