Yeah, I think that in the US tv shows get a bit of November, part of December and then part of April, May-June - off.
Production crews usually get most of May, June and (somtimes) part of July off. Generally speaking, writers start work after Memorial Day and work straight through until Christmas break. (Though there is the usual Thanksgiving weekend and random holidays here and there.) After the New Year, they go back to work and work through the end of April/beginning of May.
Of course, this year, it's very different. I think the
Heroes
writing staff had two weeks off in between seasons.
Because of the new
Origins
thing?
Possibly. But a lot of returning shows seemed to start back to work earlier than usual this year. I assume it's due to the possible WGA strike.
Kristen, yes that's what I'm hearing. A lot of shows are trying to get eps written in advance because of the possible WGA strike.
Also, are they also writing/producing Torchwood in that time? That's a lot to take on.
Is the
Torchwood
crew exactly the same as the
Doctor Who
crew?
They're both BBC Wales, so there's probably a lot of overlap. I'm not sure how much the writing staff overlaps, though. It's got to put a lot of strain on RTD himself, though.
Hi, Michele!
Is this the right forum for info about new shows currently in production? Looks like David Greenwalt is making an Angel clone set in New York.
It's fine here, Laga. You could also mention it in the Buffy/Angel thread, because it's not spoiling plot or guest appearances.
And HA! Greenwalt! The first thing I said about that show
Moonlight
was when I told Strega I liked that show when it was called
Angel.
And then of course Strega, being roughly equivalent to the Files & Records character reminded me the same thing could have been (and was) said about Angel in reference to
Forever Night.
Hey, Tom!
The news that Greenwalt is involved is the first thing that has made me even vaguely interested in that vampire PI show, I must say.
