It's like Gunn and the panther.

Locke killed it. :-)
Or maybe it killed Locke and we now have Pod!Locke.
Well, as a proponent of the InvisioMechasaur of Id, I think they're less scared, so it's less of a threat.
Has anyone else been getting a really odd (and different from before) vibe from Locke in the past 2 episodes? Like he's reached IslandEnlightenment, or something?
I assumed Kate's now dead friend is the one who sent her the letter and the $$.
Except wasn't the letter what gave her the news of her mother's illness? In which case it couldn't have been the doctor, since he didn't know.
I think it's very strange that Kate refers to what happened to her ex-BF as she "killing" him. And it leaves me with an asspull feeling.
She didn't pull the trigger, but her actions directly caused his death.
And she'd certainly feel like she killed him.

ITA. Major retcon, I thought.

True, but she did everything she could (short of, you know, getting out of the car and surrendering to police) to get him out of the way.
Would there be a legal case against her for his death? ISTM like the charge would be something like reckless endangerment, rather than murder.
Kate could, for instance, have killed her abusive father in relatively cold blood
Yeah, I'm getting tired of thinking of all the things Kate could have done. Isn't that the writers' job?
Every Kate backstory ep so far has been a huge letdown. We were told in the pilot that she was a dangerous criminal. We've been shown that she's kind-hearted, guilt-ridden, and misunderstood. (And after last night, it looks like we're about to find out that she was innocent all along. Feh.)
