Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

When I was at the theatre at the Grove, I think last weekend?, there was a costume in the lobby from some movie where Alan Cumming plays Loki. It was pretty cool.

VH-1 Classic.

Which does not appear as one of my cable choices. Grr ....

Up with the sun

I have the expensive cable, and as far as I can tell VH1 Classic, MTV en Espanol, and MTV Hits are the only channnels that actually play videos most of the time. Even MTV2, which was supposed to be cool when it launched, is all reruns of MTV programming from the '90's now.

It's sad. Do Real World reruns really get great ratings? And whose genius idea was it to cut the few videos they DO show into 90-second clips and have people talking over them, more often than not? Argh.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

And then there is the practically music video - less MTV and VH1.

To be fair, there's a goodly amount of music on those I Love the __'s shows that VH1 currently airs on continuous loop.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

To be fair, there's a goodly amount of music on those I Love the __'s shows

But just teaser length.

Of a morning, I'll leave TiVo on VH1 or MTV, and then rewind through the saved thirty minutes to see the highlights reel. During prime time I usually want to watch actual narrative TV, so their morning music schedule works perfectly for me. 3am to 10:30 am, if I read the MTV schedule right.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Are you guys, particularly the L.A.istas, familiar with FIDM?

Heh. Reequeen (my Lovely Wife™) went there.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Gandalfe, how is your lovely wife? I've wondered, but I rarely cross paths with either of you.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Ooh! Amazing -- they'll also have Lemony Snicket costumes!

If any of you go, please oh please take photos. Lots and lots and lots of photos.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Now that I have gotten my 76-years-old-and-not-media-savvy mom to join Netflix, we are having some very interesting conversations. I add films on her queue for her, as she has lame dial-up at her house. I will randomly add films to her queue as I think of them and then check if she wants them when we speak. This leads to exchanges like: "I put Kinsey on there. You want to see that, right?"
"Yes, but I am too much of a prude to see it in a theater so this is good."
"You'll like it. You'll like the sociology in it."
"Will I find it too shocking?"
"Maybe a little. There's some nudity. And Liam Neesen and Peter Saarsgard kiss."
"Oh."
"It's kind of hot."
"Really?"
"Well, cute guys kissing."
"Hmm. Put it on the list."

Fine. She had surgery last Tuesday, but came home Saturday and is recovering nicely. Watching many, many movies while laid up.
