Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

To be fair, there's a goodly amount of music on those I Love the __'s shows

But just teaser length.

Of a morning, I'll leave TiVo on VH1 or MTV, and then rewind through the saved thirty minutes to see the highlights reel. During prime time I usually want to watch actual narrative TV, so their morning music schedule works perfectly for me. 3am to 10:30 am, if I read the MTV schedule right.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Are you guys, particularly the L.A.istas, familiar with FIDM?

Heh. Reequeen (my Lovely Wife™) went there.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Gandalfe, how is your lovely wife? I've wondered, but I rarely cross paths with either of you.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Ooh! Amazing -- they'll also have Lemony Snicket costumes!

If any of you go, please oh please take photos. Lots and lots and lots of photos.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Now that I have gotten my 76-years-old-and-not-media-savvy mom to join Netflix, we are having some very interesting conversations. I add films on her queue for her, as she has lame dial-up at her house. I will randomly add films to her queue as I think of them and then check if she wants them when we speak. This leads to exchanges like: "I put Kinsey on there. You want to see that, right?"
"Yes, but I am too much of a prude to see it in a theater so this is good."
"You'll like it. You'll like the sociology in it."
"Will I find it too shocking?"
"Maybe a little. There's some nudity. And Liam Neesen and Peter Saarsgard kiss."
"Oh."
"It's kind of hot."
"Really?"
"Well, cute guys kissing."
"Hmm. Put it on the list."

Fine. She had surgery last Tuesday, but came home Saturday and is recovering nicely. Watching many, many movies while laid up.

Jillie, remember to tell her to flee the room when William Sadler appears.

Well, good for the nice recovery. And really, I can't think of a better occupation for being laid up than movie watching. Unless it's cat stacking, but we shall not go there.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Cat stacking is something you need to recover from, not do while trying to recover.

Which is why I wasn't going there. Go movie watching, choose movie watching!
