Get up...get up, you stupid piece of... What did you do that for? What's wrong with you? Didn't you hear a word he said? All of you! You think there's someone just going to drop money on you?! Money they could use?! Well, there ain't people like that. There's just people like me.

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Nah, you're thinking of the one with the bobsled dogs.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

And now I'm going to earn the loathing and disrespect of every Buffista who ever was or is or is to be by admitting that Fools Rush In falls into this category too.

Oddly irrestisible yet not-very-good romantic movies should be a category of their own. The Truth About Cats and Dogs, anyone?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The Truth About Cats And Dogs is brilliant! I mean, except for the odd idea that Uma Thurman is pretty, much less prettier than Janeane, but that's not fatal.

The Truth About Cats And Dogs is brilliant!

I'm not sure anything starring Jeanine Garofalo can be characterized as not very good.

I'm now depressed. I just found out that the upcoming Don Roos movie Happy Endings stars Tom Arnold as well as Laura Dern, Jesse Bradford, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Lisa Kudrow, and Bobby Cannavale. Which means I still have to see it, but I'm going want to claw my eyes out in parts.

Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

Oh! Another movie I love that really isn't all that great, but I love it, is Last of the Mohicans. "I will find you!" Also, did anyone else notice that the little sister was ugly for pretty much the entire movie, until the second right before she jumped? And then she was suddenly gorgeous? It's the weirdest phenomenon. That, and the hypnotic violin song thing they play during the scene leading up to the love scene are what make me love this movie.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Uma Thurman is pretty.

Uma Thurman is pretty.

Not really. But she is striking.

Okay! Off to see a movie. Later, gators.

Uma Thurman is pretty.

She looks exactly like her brother if he were wearing a training bra.
