Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Or League of Extraordinary Gentleman.

There is nothing good or fun about this movie, even by flashy camp standards. NOTHING.

I have a friend who swears it's worth watching for Mina's costumes, but I don't know if I believe her.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Underworld. If we did have cable, and I happened to catch it, I'd have to watch for the pretty. And then turn it off when Scott Speedman turned into whateverthehell he was.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Still the casting was perfect, the music is fun, the world they created is detailed and beautifully other.

And like a lot of Altman, a great film for playing "hey, it's that guy".

I liked Quintet.

Actually so did I, but I have a fondness for ponderous, end-of-the-world movies. It really needed to be dubbed into Russian and subtitled.

We have the deluxe edition on DVD! Because Pete can go "Ooooh, guns and fight scenes and things blowing up!" and I can go "Oooooh, vampires in pretty clothes in a mansion that should be mine!"

Another movie we watch strictly for the pretty and the fight scenes? Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Fantastic Four preveiw: [link]

The scene of the Thing getting hit by a truck is cool....

"It's got to be the hair, Cotton. It's beautiful! Feathered and lethal. You just don't see it nowadays." Pepper Brooks - Dodgeball

I need the deluxe edition on DVD. For exactly the same reasons.

And despite what anyone thinks, I'm still looking forward to Keanu in Constantine.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I can't stop watching a bad sword and sorcery film.

Lee Horsley in The Sword and the Sorcerer. May have singlehandedly put an end to Kathleen Beller's acting career. With Richard Lynch and Richard Moll, and George Maharis.

Cherry 2000, Ice Pirates...

YES! Especially Ice Pirates. With all the environmental tsuris lately, Ron Perlman's thumb-fingertips money-gesture, "Got any...water?" may be prophetic before long.

And on the suggestion of someone on this thread, Underworld and Van Helsing have become a too-braindead-to-deal weekend double feature for us. We may have to add Brotherhood of the Wolf for the triple. We have the 3-disc French release--lots of additional pretty.

I can't even.

A fantastically-awful film. Made for MST3King. My buddies and I yelled out supplementary dialogue during the initial run in the theatre and the rest of the audience (okay, the other 30 people) joined right in.
