I like the way the walls go out. Gives you an open feeling. Firefly is a good design. People don't appreciate the substance of things. Objects in space. People miss out on what's solid.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The thought process has always been to create an extension of the Doom universe that will give fans an interesting new take on the themes that they've come to enjoy in the game.

There were themes?

I looked up Uwe Boll on IMDb. Wow, he's really establishing a niche for himself, huh?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That was my reaction, P-C. But I figure they can make a movie out of Asteroids too.

Oh, and:

Only days after acknowledging that he had removed references to God and the Catholic church in the movie adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, Chris Weitz has removed himself as director. In a statement, Weitz said, "Though I remain honored to continue serving as caretaker of Philip Pullman's work on the page as this project's screenwriter, the technical challenges of making such an epic are more than I can undertake at this point." Today's (Wednesday) Hollywood Reporter quoted New Line production president Toby Emmerich as saying, "Chris over-delivered on the script, and I can only respect him for being realistic about the physical, emotional, and technical demands of the project."

move out and draw fire

Huh. I am completely befuddled by the news links here. What does "over-delivered on the script" mean? Too many words? He's going to be so busy editing that he won't be able to direct? They realized that someone who would write that script has no business directing? What? (Still bitter about Stoppard's dismissal).

And why would anyone care about changes to the "Doom universe?" I mean, I've played all the games, and you know, they are like playing a movie, but I'm not emotionally invested. Basically you shoot stuff in dark tunnels that all look the same. There might be a grue.

Now, if they went back and made the Lovecraft connection (Sandy Peterson helped write the original Doom, and he's the guy that wrote the Call of Cthulhu rpg off of Lovecraft's work), I could get invested I guess.

No late fee, but you have to buy it or pay a restocking fee if you're more than a week late. I wonder how many people will notice that before being asked to pay up?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My opinion of Blockbuster is best expressed by saying I wish the cursed videotape from Ringu actually existed so I could return it to their store un-rewound and let the clerks join in the fun.

This from Scifi Wire:
