This is the most beautiful film ever! If you enjoyed TROY, this is like a million times better. With much better acting especially from Jolie as Alexander's mother, I was surprised how good this film was after reading the negative reviews. Perhaps some people are just homophobic and hated the movie because of Alexander's sexuality. It was that bad. It was the best film ever. I's a war drama with great fight scenes and acting. I found the acting inspirational and only showed the talent each of the actors/ actress's carried.
Overall, I would say that this is now one of my most favorite films ever seen.

That's how I felt. Parts of it were enjoyable, but on the whole, I was embarrassed for the movie. We did have fun snarking at it, though.

Based on what I knew before the movie started, I knew it wasn't supposed to be serious. I'm not sure precisely where I picked that up. Seeing as I was on the riff-tip already, scenes like the 007-homage fit very neatly into my expectations.

Why did no one warn me that this movie was so, so awful?
I distinctly remember saying at the time that anyone who doesn't like bad movies should pay matinee price and leave as soon as the film changes from black & white to color. MST3K fans, however, were best served by watching the whole thing in an audience that wouldn't mind their snarky comments.
Just came back from seeing "Finding Neverland". That's the most I cried in the theater since "Return of the King". Some of it felt awfully manipulative, but I bawled anyway. The young actor who played Peter (one of the boys of Kate Winslet's character, not the Peter in the play) was just extraordinary. He matched Johnny Depp every step of the way, and he couldn't have been more than 8 or 9 when they filmed this.
This is the first time I've noticed this, but Johnny Depp has obscenely long lashes.
Vonnie, the new People has an article about Depp, and it mentions that Depp was so impressed with the kid that now the kid is playing Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
This reminds me, I've been thinking of spending the next lazy rainy weekend watching a Van Helsing and Underworld double feature. I think they would go well together.

My previous fave double feature was El Mariachi and Desperado. But they both come on the same disk, so no creativity points earned there.
