Don't you just love this party? Everything's so fancy, and there's some kind of hot cheese over there.

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

As a social commentary, it doesn't quite work for me.

A friend of mine who also got to see it early said pretty much the same thing, that it has less biting, possibly offensive social and political commentary than one might be hoping for, but plenty of dick and fart jokes (YAY TERRANCE AND PHILLIP!!!!)

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I'm so excited for Team America. The stuff they showed at ComiCon was hysterical.

I'm pretty excited for it, too. Just based on the voice alone, I think I'll be drawing Kim Jong Il/Cartman parallels for years to come.

Yeah. I laughed so hard when I first read that. They could've just left the left three words off. Puppets don't make it more offensive. (Less, I'd say, cuz it lacks a degree of realism.)

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Yeah. April 22nd. a.k.a. Earth Day.
Earth-That-Was Day, in fact.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

If there's one thing this film does not lack, it's plenty of dick and fart jokes. Not to mention all the vomit and oral sex.

So how many parents do you think will end up traumatizing their children because "how bad could it be - it's puppets"?
