'Conversations with Dead People'

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Yeah. I laughed so hard when I first read that. They could've just left the left three words off. Puppets don't make it more offensive. (Less, I'd say, cuz it lacks a degree of realism.)

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Yeah. April 22nd. a.k.a. Earth Day.
Earth-That-Was Day, in fact.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

A friend of mine who also got to see it early said pretty much the same thing, that it has less biting, possibly offensive social and political commentary than one might be hoping for, but plenty of dick and fart jokes

If there's one thing this film does not lack, it's plenty of dick and fart jokes. Not to mention all the vomit and oral sex.

So how many parents do you think will end up traumatizing their children because "how bad could it be - it's puppets"?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I liked:

We?ll have to start a campaign for Buffy thermoses.

Yeah, forget the presidential election, man. I want a Buffy thermos. These are the issues that count to the people.

If I only had a brain...

Not to mention all the vomit and oral sex.

Please tell me those don't go together.

Well they can, but usually not in that order. Or so I've heard.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Telling quote from Sarah:

The Grudge ruined me, because it was such a great experience all around. It was one of the greatest casts I’ve ever worked with. It was amazing to be filming in this country where I didn’t speak the language of anyone on the crew, formed some of the deepest bonds I’ve ever formed. I’ve never cried so much at a wrap party. I’ve never even gone to a wrap party. I don’t like them. It was such an intense experience. So it kind of ruined me, because everything now has to compare to that.
