Well, in that case, he did a lot of that in Young Frankenstein, except substitute obsessed with a side of really fucking funny.
He also did some hysterical there, but a lot of it was definitely obsessed instead.
I also think he played non-hysterical in Young Frankenstein at enough points where it made the hysterical funnier.

The thing is, Willy Wonka and Blazing Saddles are the only times he didn't play hysterical. He is FABULOUS when he isn't being hysterical.
