I'm intrigued, and then the kicker is the last shot of the trailer with the roof being blown off. Cause that's fucking cool.
It looks intriguing, but I have a fear that Farscape/Star Trek-style omnipotent aliens are going to turn out to be behind it, and the real world isn't real at all. Which was an interesting twist back when I first saw it. In entertainment from the late 60s.
Christian Bale talks about the Bat.
Sigh. An LJ acquaintance went to
Sky Captain
and she's calling it the second-worst movie she saw all year, the first being
Riddick.

I heard very early bad buzz last winter. But I have heard other reviews. However, I have no interest in it at all.
Sumi, that Christian Bale interview made me go find the EW cover that made me finally concede that I was wrong, and dear Lord, is Christian Bale HOTT.
At least one critic is calling Sky Captain the best film of the year.
Edit: Whoops, that review is rather spoilery.
From that "Doom" article:
the leader of a special ops team, who crosses paths with the organization responsible for his parents' deaths while battling alien demons,
Heh. The "alien demons" part is cracking me up. They are not just regular demons. They are demons from outer space!
